France is represented in the Republic of San Marino by its Ambassador to Italy. Since 2023, the Consulate General of France in Florence has also been responsible for San Marino. An Honorary Consul is also present in San Marino. San Marino opened a legation in Paris in 1855. It became an embassy on 30 December 1988. On 4 December 2025, the French Minister Delegate for Europe and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of San Marino signed a bilateral declaration of intent on the strengthening of bilateral political consultations between our foreign ministries. Economic relations Most trade between France and San Marino is in manufactured products. In 2023, San Marino’s exports to France stood at €13.58 million, and San Marino imported French goods amounting to €31.9 million. In 2022, France’s FDI stock in San Marino stood at €10 million while San Marino’s FDI stock in France stood at €2 million. In March 2024, France’s market share in San Marino was 7%.
