Israel/Palestinian Territories – Extension and intensification of the Israeli offensive in Gaza City (16 September 2025)

France firmly condemns the extension and intensification of the Israeli offensive in the centre of Gaza City – where there are still thought to be more than 600,000 civilians –, which have led to the forced displacement of over 300,000 people. France calls on Israel to end this destructive campaign, which no longer has any military rationale, and resume negotiations as swiftly as possible with a view to securing a ceasefire and the release of all the hostages.

The operation’s extension is also taking place in the context of an extremely grave humanitarian and health situation, marked by famine and a lack of access to basic necessities and emergency care. France once again calls on Israel to immediately lift all the restrictions imposed on the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza and allow it to be delivered immediately, on a massive scale and with no restrictions.
