Syria – Attack in Homs (26 December 2025)

France condemns in the strongest possible terms today’s attack on Imam Ali Mosque in Homs, in which at least 8 worshippers are believed to have been killed. This abject act of terrorism, following that against Mar Elias Church in Damascus in June, is part of a deliberate strategy to destabilize Syria and the transitional government.

France condemns these attacks which seek to spread terror and undermine ongoing efforts to establish peace and stability within a unified and pluralistic Syria. It expresses its solidarity with the victims’ families and loved ones, as well as with the people of Syria.

France reiterates its constant commitment to fighting all forms of violent extremism, its counter-terrorism action in Syria alongside its partners from the Global Coalition Against Daesh, as well as its support for continuing political transition.
