Mali - Olivier Dubois’ situation (August 22, 2022)

It has been over 500 days since Olivier Dubois was kidnapped by a jihadist group in Mali. As the minister recalled in her interview with Libération on August 5, every effort is being made to secure the release of our fellow countryman. The withdrawal of Operation Barkhane from Mali has in no way diminished France’s efforts. The French president clearly stated as much in his communiqué on Monday, August 15.

Since the day of the kidnapping, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs has done the same thing that it does in every hostage situation by keeping in very close touch with Olivier Dubois’ family in France and in Mali in an effort to support them during this challenging time.

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna has asked her chief of staff to invite the family of Olivier Dubois to another meeting, which will take place very soon.
