Chrysoula Zacharopoulou, Minister of State for Development, Francophonie and International Partnerships, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will be visiting Kenya and Angola on September 13 – 15.

At the request of President Macron, who spoke by phone with Kenyan President William Ruto, the minister of state attended President Ruto’s inauguration ceremony to underscore the friendship between our countries.

Ms. Zacharopoulou met today with President Ruto and conveyed a message of congratulations from President Macron. Their meeting focused on the close relationship between our countries; they highlighted emblematic health and infrastructure projects and expressed their wish to further step up our partnership. The minister and the Kenyan president also reiterated France and Kenya’s shared desire to continue working together within multilateral bodies to protect the environment and defend international law.

On September 15, Ms. Zacharopoulou will travel to Luanda, Angola, where she will attend the inauguration of Angolan President Joao Lourenço. This trip, which follows President Macron’s telephone call with President Lourenço on September 13, reflects France’s wish to deepen our relationship with Angola, especially in the areas of agriculture and economic diversification, and to strengthen our cooperation on promoting peace and stability in the Great Lakes region.
