12th edition of Latin America and Caribbean Weeks (22 May - 8 June 2025)

From 22 May to 8 June 2025, France is honouring Latin America and the Caribbean. With hundreds of cultural, scientific, political, economic and celebratory events organized in person and online, the 12th Latin America and Caribbean Weeks (#SALC2025) event is an opportunity to promote the richness of historic and contemporary relations between the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean and France, while enabling the French public to learn more about the region.

Discover the creative wealth of the region

The 2025 programme draws on initiatives from embassies of Latin American and Caribbean countries in France, as well as associations, cultural, educational and research institutions, museums, international organizations and economic players.

From Bordeaux to Montpellier, from Paris to Mexico City, the Weeks offer the public a wide variety of Latin American and Caribbean creativity in France and show the French people’s interest in the region.

From 23 to 25 May, the Maison de l’Amérique Latine is hosting the L’Amérique Latine Partout (“Latin America Everywhere”) Forum, an initiative designed to enhance and deepen the relationship between France and Latin America and the Caribbean, which President Macron called for in his speech before the Chilean Congress in November 2024.

Reflecting together on the challenges of the modern world

On 2 June, at the OECD, the International Economic Forum on Latin America and the Caribbean will bring together high-level speakers on the theme: “Financing sustainable investment”

On 4 and 5 June, the symposium “International strategies and environmental justice. Europe. Latin America. Caribbean” will take place. Organized by the Institut des Amériques (IdA), in partnership with the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and the European Union-Latin America and Caribbean Foundation (EU-LAC), this symposium seeks to provide an understanding of how to guide international cooperation despite the challenges mentioned, in order to foster the development of nature-based solutions and an inclusive and sustainable bioeconomy.

Radio France International (RFI), a faithful partner to this event, will present its Reporting in Spanish award on 5 June.

A long-term initiative

In 2011, at the initiative of the French Senate, the “Latin America and Caribbean Day” was introduced, to celebrate and strengthen ties between countries of the region and France.

In 2014, the “Day” became a “Week”, or rather “Weeks”, organized and coordinated by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

With each passing year, the Weeks have alternated between educational, popular culture, and celebratory events, but they have always been unmissable, both in Paris and throughout France and even in Latin America. They have become occasions for encounters and shared reflection between Latin America, the Caribbean and France.
