The exhibition dedicated to showcasing Tajik archaeological heritage, inaugurated at the Musée Guimet on 13 October 2021, with President Rahmon and President Macron in attendance, gave new impetus to the cultural dimension of our cooperation. France and Tajikistan have close and long-standing ties in the field of archaeological research, via the French Archaeological Mission in Central Asia (MAFAC, a joint programme with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan), created in 2015 and the fruit of a major French-Tajik collaboration project launched in 1984 at the Sarazm site. The Archaeological Mission in Southern Tajikistan is also conducting excavations at the Zol-i Zard site.
