United Nations – Catherine Colonna’s participation in the high-level segment of the 52nd session of the Human Rights Council (23 February 2023)

In Geneva on 27 February, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Mme Catherine Colonna, will take part in the high-level segment of the 52nd session of the Human Rights Council and in an event organized by Ukraine on violations of human rights and international humanitarian law committed in the Russian war in Ukraine. The Minister will reiterate France’s strong condemnation of the aggression and its consequences for civilians and for international security and stability. She will reaffirm France’s solidarity with the Ukrainian people.

The Minister will hold a meeting with the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr Volker Türk, and will reiterate to him France’s full support for his mandate. In this year marking the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, she will reaffirm France’s commitment to and call for universal respect for human rights.

The Minister will also chair a working lunch on the humanitarian response, together with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Mr Filippo Grandi, the Director General of the International Organization for Migration, Mr António Vitorino, and the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Ms Mirjana Spoljaric.
