On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Geneva Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees of 1951, the cornerstone of international protection of refugees, France calls on the states that are not yet parties to the convention to join it. It reaffirms its commitment alongside the tens of millions of people throughout the world who have been forced into exile, as well as the countries and organizations that support them.

In this respect, it pays tribute to the unfailing commitment of Filippo Grandi, UN High Commissioner for Refugees, whose visit to France in June 2021 provided an opportunity for the French authorities to reaffirm their full support for the work of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
