G7 - Jean-Yves Le Drian’s participation in the G7 Foreign and Development Ministers’ Meeting (London, 4 - 5 May 2021)

Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will take part in the G7 Foreign and Development Minister’s Meeting in London due to take place from May 3 to 5, under UK presidency.

The foreign ministers will exchange views on the crises and major issues in the area of international politics. The foreign ministers of South Africa, Australia, South Korea, India, the Republic of Korea and Brunei (the current chair of ASEAN) were invited to take part in several segments of the meeting, notably including a session devoted to the Indo-Pacific region.

This ministerial meeting will also provide an opportunity to discuss the defense of democratic values in the face of the rise in authoritarian regimes.

Lastly, the ministers will discuss ways to ensure a sustainable recovery in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, including by reaffirming their support for the ACT-A initiative, the COVID-19 Tools Accelerator, and its COVAX Facility, which supports global vaccination efforts.
