France to take over the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) presidency in 2027 (December 19, 2025)
On December 18, 2025, at the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) Plenary in Jerusalem, the organization’s Member Countries unanimously approved France’s bid for the IHRA presidency beginning in 2027. France will succeed Argentina in the position.
The IHRA, an intergovernmental organization comprised of 35 Member Countries and eight Observer Countries, brings together governments and experts in order to strengthen and promote education, remembrance and research on the Holocaust and the genocide of the Roma.
Against the backdrop of constant attempts to distort history and the dramatic resurgence of anti-Semitism throughout the world, France recalls that Holocaust denial and anti-Semitism must be combatted and firmly punished because they undermine the unity of our society, as well as the rights, freedoms and dignity of all.
In keeping with France’s ongoing efforts to prevent anti-Semitism and preserve the memory of the Holocaust, our country continues to work every day to defend human rights and combat all forms of anti-Semitism, racism and discrimination.
