Creation of an Observatory on history teaching in Europe - Ministerial Declaration (26 Nov. 2019)

As Chair of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers (17 May - 27 November), France and its partners proposed creating an Observatory on History Teaching in Europe. The Observatory project was introduced during the “Teaching History, Teaching Peace: Confronting and Reconciling Memories in Europe” event, organized on 12 November as part of the Paris Peace Forum.

23 States have shown their support for this project at the Education Ministers’ Meeting which France held in Paris on 26 November. France has exceptionally contributed a further €200,000 to the Council’s budget to fund the launch of the project.
