Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) - France, Italy and Germany announce their intention to become founding members of the AIIB (March 17, 2015)

Joint statement by Mr. Laurent Fabius and Mr. Michel Sapin together with the German and Italian authorities

France, Italy and Germany today announced their intention to become founding members of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

This new investment bank, which aims to work in partnership with the existing multilateral investment and development banks, will be able to play a key role in financing the infrastructure that Asia badly needs. The AIIB will therefore contribute to the economic and social development of the region and to global growth.

France, Italy and Germany, in close collaboration with their international and European partners, are keen to join the founding members of the AIIB in order to work on establishing an institution that will adhere to best practices in the areas of governance, security, loans and public procurement.
