As host country of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, France will stage the next international Nutrition for Growth Summit (N4G) in Paris on 27-28 March 2025. This high-level event aims to make political and financial commitments to nutrition and will bring together many government stakeholders, international organizations, civil society organizations, research stakeholders and the private sector.

Nutrition, a universal issue at the heart of sustainable development issues

Malnutrition is becoming an increasing problem all over the world. In 2022, it was estimated that 3 billion people were affected by one of the three forms of malnutrition: undernutrition, nutritional deficiencies, overweight or obesity. Vulnerable people like children and the elderly are particularly hard hit.

However, nutrition is a cross-cutting theme, which directly impacts the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2 (Zero Hunger) and 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and has a cross-cutting impact on 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities of the 17 SDGs. It plays an important role in resilience, which against a global backdrop of great vulnerability, requires coordinated mobilization from the stakeholders forming the development ecosystem.

A Summit with a broad international reach to make nutrition a cross-cutting pillar of development

Organized every 4 years by the host country of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the next N4G Summit will be based around four main goals:

  • put nutrition at the centre of development policies;
  • make the fight against all forms of malnutrition a universal cause;
  • maintain a high level of political and financial engagement for nutrition;
  • monitor commitments and continuity between N4G Summits.

N4G Paris will be an opportunity to scale up ambitions in the fight against malnutrition in all its forms and accelerate progress towards the achievement of global nutrition targets by 2030.

As host country, France will lead efforts to build strong international political engagement. To carry out this mission, France has set up a dynamic governance structure with a core group of about 30 countries, as well as more than 30 non-governmental partners (private sector, civil society organizations, philanthropic organizations, development banks, research institutions, international organizations, etc.).

All of these stakeholders are working to ensure N4G Paris can make more ambitious commitments to nutrition, particularly with regard to:

  • nutrition, health, and social protection;
  • nutrition and the transition to sustainable, smart and climate-resilient food systems;
  • nutrition and resilience to crises;
  • nutrition and gender equality;
  • nutrition, data, research, artificial intelligence, and innovation;
  • financing and accountability for nutrition.

The Summit will hold thematic and cross-cutting meetings, e.g. on the Global Innovation Challenge by the World Food Programme (WFP).
