Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and Franck Riester, Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will take part in the Meeting of the OECD Council at Ministerial Level taking place today and tomorrow at the organization’s headquarters in Paris.

In the context of the priority we give multilateralism, Jean-Yves Le Drian will underscore the need for the OECD to promote the values of democracy, the rule of law, sustainable development, human rights, and gender equality, thereby contributing to better regulation of globalization. He will invite the organization to preserve its openness toward the rest of the world so that it can play its full role with respect to the major reforms necessary, notably including international taxation.

During the session devoted to the promotion of trade for the benefit of all, Franck Riester will argue that international trade should contribute to growth that benefits as many people as possible. He will underscore the need to continue efforts to ensure that sustainable development challenges are better taken into account in trade policy, as well as to identify unfair trade practices in order to create a more level playing field at the global level.
