OECD – Reappointment of Mathias Cormann as Secretary-General (25.07.25)
France welcomes the reappointment of Mathias Cormann as Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). His second term will run from 2026 to 2031.
The decision taken by the organization’s 38 member states reflects their confidence in the Secretary-General. France emphasizes his commitment to multilateralism and a world governed by shared rules and best practices.
The organization’s work and expertise are absolutely vital to creating more just and sustainable growth worldwide, at a time when we are facing unprecedented challenges.
France is very pleased that the OECD’s priorities include the fight against climate change, the global governance of AI and emerging technologies, fair tax systems and more effective financing of support for vulnerable nations.
We will continue to work actively on all these issues alongside Mathias Cormann and all of the organization’s member and partner countries, as we strongly believe that international dialogue is necessary in order to move forward in a way that benefits everyone.
