Francophonie – La Francophonie Ministerial Conference (Paris, November 25-26 2017)

The meeting will be preceded on November 24 by La Francophonie’s Permanent Council, which meets three times a year and plays a leadership and coordinating role. Chaired by La Francophonie’s secretary-general Michaëlle Jean, this body is made up of the personal representatives of the heads of state and government. Leila Slimani, the French president’s personal representative, will attend on behalf of France.

International justice system - International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) – Sentencing of Ratko Mladic (The Hague, 22.11.17)

On November 22, 2017, the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia sentenced Ratko Mladic to life in prison for genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes committed during the conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina (1992-1995), which killed more than 100,000 people and displaced 2.2 million others. France pays tribute to the courage of the victims and witnesses who agreed to appear before the international criminal tribunals.
