Venezuela - Release of Camilo Castro (16 November 2025)

The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs is greatly relieved to announce the release of our compatriot Camilo Castro, who was held in Venezuela for more than four months. He is now in France.

This release is a result of the coordinated mobilization by all the State’s services, and the personal commitment of M. Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and of Mr Castro’s family and supporters.

The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs welcomes this gesture by the Venezuelan authorities and will continue its active efforts until Mr Castro is received in Paris, in the presence of his loved ones.

The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs teams remain wholly committed to supporting our compatriots in the world.
