Visit by Jean-Yves Le Drian to the United Arab Emirates (4 September 2018)
On Tuesday 4 September, Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will visit the United Arab Emirates. He will have a meeting with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to exchange views on regional and bilateral issues. Among other things, they will discuss regional crises and all bilateral cooperation projects in the economic, educational, cultural, security and defence fields.
He will also visit the Louvre Abu Dhabi to launch the second season of Franco-Emirati cultural dialogue, in the company of the Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, Noura Al Kaabi, and will attend a preview of the new temporary exhibition “Japanese Connections”. Dedicated to artistic and cultural dialogue between Japan and France, it presents the works of 12 artists from the 19th and 20th centuries from the collections of the Louvre Abu Dhabi, the Musée d’Orsay, the Musée national des Arts asiatiques-Guimet and the Musée des Arts décoratifs (MAD).
The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs will then visit the French lycée Louis Massignon, one of the French teaching network’s six institutions in the United Arab Emirates, to meet the school community as a whole and wish it success at the start of the new school year. Finally, he will visit Masdar City, a smart and sustainable city where French businesses are contributing to the United Arab Emirates’ commitment to developing green energy and to the fight against climate change.
