France was deeply saddened to learn of the death of the President of the United Arab Emirates and the Emir of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and offers its sincere condolences to his family and to the Emirati people.
With the passing of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Emirati people lose a leader who enjoyed universal respect.
We applaud his deep commitment to stability and peace in the region and in the world. His efforts to find long-term answers to global challenges were unwavering.
Sheikh Khalifa was an ardent proponent of strengthening the French-Emirati strategic partnership. France pays tribute to his steadfast commitment to nurturing the bonds of trust and cooperation between France and the UAE.
It is in this spirit of trust and friendship that France offers the Emirati people and authorities its sincere condolences and this affirmation of our deep friendship.
