United Arab Emirates – Conversation between the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs and his counterpart (27 Mar. 2022)

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, M. Jean-Yves Le Drian, spoke to his Emirati counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan.
He emphasized the need for strong international mobilization, in all forums and under all circumstances, in the face of Russia’s aggression in Ukraine, which represents a serious threat to Europe’s security. He stressed the importance of continuing the work set in train with a view to diversifying European States’ energy supplies.

He discussed regional crises with his counterpart and recalled that a rehabilitation of the Syrian regime with nothing in return will provide stability to neither Syria nor the region.

Jean-Yves Le Drian reiterated the need for a return to the JCPOA as soon as possible, and stressed the importance of initiating regional dialogue on security and stability issues, and France’s desire to coordinate closely with its main regional partners on the subject.

He recalled France’s commitment to the security of Emirati territory, and its practical engagement on the issue.
