Faced with the tragic consequences of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, France is continuing and stepping up its mobilization in terms of humanitarian support for the people affected by the war.

The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs’ Crisis and Support Centre coordinated the dispatch from Paris on 21 March of €2.4 million of emergency aid bound for the Ukrainian authorities and the country’s population. An A330 cargo plane made available by the CMA CGM Foundation is dispatching 55 tonnes of donations to Warsaw to meet the priority needs expressed by the Ukrainian authorities in the following areas:

  • medical: 10 tonnes of equipment including 10 oxygen generators for intensive-care units and 9 tonnes of medicines provided by the voluntary organization Tulipe with the support of French businesses in the sector and 15 pharmaceutical companies, for the treatment of injured and chronically ill people;
  • electrical: 31 generators, including 6 high-capacity generators, to increase the electricity security of Ukraine’s health structures;
  • emergency shelters: 9 family tents measuring 42m² provided to the Polish Red Cross by the French Red Cross to accommodate Ukrainian refugees;
  • IT and telecommunications: 8 tonnes of equipment collected in conjunction with the Office of the Minister of State for the Digital Transition and Electronic Communication, thanks to donations from several companies (smartphones, computers, routers and 60km of fibre-optic cable) to ensure the continuity of connections and communications;
  • food: more than 4 tonnes of baby milk provided by a French company from the agrifood sector.

In conjunction with the Polish authorities, these supplies will be handed to the Ukrainian authorities immediately.

The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs thanks those involved who have mobilized for this operation through financial donations or through donations in kind: local authorities and businesses which have paid contributions into the support funds for Ukraine managed by the Crisis and Support Centre, the CMA CGM Foundation, the voluntary organization Tulipe, the French Red Cross, Lactalis, Altitude Infra, Cdiscount, Ekinops, Kerlink, Nexans and Strategic Scout.

France remains fully mobilized to lend humanitarian support to the people of Ukraine who are victims of the war.
