Ukraine – Delivery of generators for the Ukrainian people (23 November 2022)
Faced with the tragic consequences of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, and as Russia continues its strikes deliberately targeting Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, affecting households’ electricity supply in particular, France is stepping up its mobilization in support of the Ukrainian people.
In response to Ukraine’s appeal, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs is currently delivering 100 generators to Romania, each with a power of 50-100 kilowatts. The generators will be handed over to the Ukrainian authorities in the coming days. The delivery, organized by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs’ Crisis and Support Centre, has the support of the European Union’s Civil Protection Mechanism and is part of an operation by several EU countries to send more than 500 generators.
This new assistance in the energy field builds on the various deliveries of generators made since the war began. Eighty-five generators for Ukraine and Moldova have already been sent from France.
France is thus continuing its active efforts to support Ukraine’s civilian resilience. To this end it will be organizing an international conference at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs in Paris on 13 December, to be led by Presidents Macron and Zelenskyy, which will seek to provide practical responses to the Ukrainian people’s immediate needs as winter approaches and step up the coordination of international aid.
