Conversation between Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and his Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha (Fiuggi, 26 November, 2024)
On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot met with his Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha, on the sidelines of the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
The Minister recalled France’s determination to support Ukraine for as long as it takes and as intensely as necessary in the face of Russian aggression. At a time when the stability of our continent is at stake, only a just and lasting peace, with respect for the UN Charter, will guarantee security for Ukraine and for us.
During this meeting, the Minister mentioned, in particular, the implementation of the G7 agreement concluded in June, which seeks to provide Ukraine with a $50 billion loan funded by windfall profits stemming from the immobilization of Russian assets, especially in Europe. This agreement, which must be implemented by all the G7 members, is being operationalized at the European level. It will make it possible to meet Ukraine’s civilian and military needs over the coming year.
