Resumption of tensions between Thailand and Cambodia (December 8, 2025)

France is concerned by the resumption of tensions between Thailand and Cambodia, which has led to new casualties. It calls on the parties to fully abide by and implement the ceasefire of July 28, 2025 and the joint declaration by the Prime Ministers of both countries adopted on October 26 on the sidelines of the 47th ASEAN summit in Kuala Lumpur.

France reiterates its support for the mediation effort undertaken by ASEAN, and particularly by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, in his capacity as the leader of Malaysia, which holds the 2025 ASEAN presidency.

France strongly believes that the only way to resolve the disputes in a lasting, peaceful manner is through the resumption of dialogue, respect for international law and compliance with the commitments made by both parties with their ASEAN partners.
