Syria - Situation in Idlib (7 November 2019)

France utterly condemns the bombing in Idlib Province over the last few days, which has led to further civilian casualties and affected several humanitarian facilities.

This violence constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law and undermines the efforts to provide much-needed humanitarian assistance to the civilian population.

France fully supports the investigation mechanisms implemented by the UN aimed at shedding light on violations of international humanitarian law in Syria.

France calls on the regime and its supporters to immediately cease hostilities in Idlib Province.

While the Constitutional Committee has just started its work, France calls on the Astana guarantors to uphold their commitments in order to facilitate the launch of a genuine political process in Syria.
