Franck Riester, Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, visited Senegal from May 31 to June 1.

The minister delegate met with Aïssata Tall Sall, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Senegalese Abroad and with Amadou Hott, Minister of Economy, Planning and International Cooperation. These meetings highlighted the richness and vitality of the partnership between Senegal and France and provided an opportunity to discuss the follow-up to the Summit on the Financing of African Economies, which took place in Paris on May 18. Franck Riester and his interlocutors also discussed our shared agenda in the run-up to the Senegalese presidency of the African Union in 2022 and the French presidency of the European Union.

This visit also falls within the framework of the building of partnerships between the Senegalese and French private sectors in future-oriented fields such as renewable energy, sustainable cities and digital technology. The minister delegate attended the ceremony for the signing of an agreement between the Société d’exploitation-maintenance du TER (SETER) and the Senegalese National Olympic and Sports Committee for the recruitment of high-level Senegalese athletes, as well as the launch of the Trace Academia platform which provides online vocational training. He met with young Senegalese entrepreneurs, some of whom are supported by the Choose Africa initiative aimed at accelerating the growth of SMEs in Africa, as well as with members of the French business community.
