Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna will co-chair the third ministerial conference of the Moldova Support Platform with her German and Romanian counterparts, Annalena Baerbock and Bogdan Aurescu. The conference, which will be held in Paris on November 21, will also be attended by Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu. President Macron and Moldovan President Maia Sandu will address the conference’s closing session.

With Moldova facing unprecedented challenges as a result of Russia’s war in Ukraine, France, Germany and Romania launched the Moldova Support Platform in April to coordinate the dispatch of immediate, concrete assistance from the international community to Moldova and its people. The first two ministerial conferences in Berlin and Bucharest raised several hundred million euros in donation pledges and contributions.

This international support is all the more important as Moldova is facing an unprecedented energy crisis. With the approach of winter, that presents the risk of a humanitarian crisis for the Moldovan people.
