Mauritania – Telephone conversation between Catherine Colonna and her counterpart (October 13, 2022)

Today, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna had a telephone conversation with her Mauritanian counterpart, Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad.

The ministers stressed the strength of the bilateral relationship between France and Mauritania and reiterated their shared desire to expand cooperation between our two countries. Minister Colonna emphasized that Mauritania has France’s support, especially with regard to energy, food security and the fight against climate change.

The ministers also discussed the situation in the region and reaffirmed their support for regional and international efforts to promote stability and development in the Sahel and West Africa.
