Lebanon - Statement by the Spokesperson of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (01 May 20)
The Lebanese government has adopted an economic plan and decided to request an IMF program. These are important decisions in terms of finding a solution to the major crisis affecting the country.
The reforms needed to ensure the country’s recovery must now be urgently implemented in order to respond to the legitimate aspirations of the Lebanese people.
On this basis, France stands ready to support Lebanon’s efforts, in collaboration with its partners, and within the framework of the commitments made at the CEDRE conference as well as the meeting of the International Support Group in Paris on December 11.
France reaffirms its commitment to the sovereignty, stability and security of Lebanon, which must be disassociated from the ongoing crises, in a context of considerable regional tensions.
