Q: Following the death of a Ministry employee during an Israeli bombardment in Rafah on December 16, the Ministry demanded an explanation from Israeli authorities of the circumstances of this bombing “as quickly as possible.” Has Israel already replied to your demand?
A: During her visit to Israel, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs once again asked her counterpart, Eli Cohen, to shed full light on this tragedy. We are in constant touch with the Israeli authorities on this matter and are waiting them to provide explanations of the circumstances of this terrible occurrence as quickly as possible.
France once again condemns this bombing of a residential building, which killed an employee of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs along with many other civilians.
We reiterate our call for an immediate and lasting humanitarian truce that must lead to a permanent ceasefire.
