Ireland – Visit by Laurence Boone (October 27-28, 2022)

Laurence Boone, Minister of State for Europe, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will visit Dublin on October 27 and 28.

The minister of state will meet with her Irish counterpart, Thomas Byrne, Minister of State for European Affairs, to discuss bilateral issues, the relationship between the European Union and the United Kingdom, and current events in the EU. She will offer an initial assessment of the Ireland‑France Joint Plan of Action signed in 2021. She will also speak with Irish parliamentarians about Europe’s main challenges and engage with civil society representatives and the media.

In the context of the 50th anniversary of Ireland’s accession to the European Union and the 35th anniversary of the EU single market, Laurence Boone has been invited by her Irish counterpart to speak at a conference about the future of Europe. She will underscore the importance of promoting the European model and developing European strategic autonomy.

The minister of state will visit EPIC the Irish Emigration Museum, which the National Museum of the History of Immigration in Paris is working with on a partnership about migration history and issues that have marked Ireland’s past and continue to shape today’s world.
