Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, spoke with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi on February 25.

The minister paid tribute to the IAEA’s impartial and professional work and reaffirmed his full support for the director general’s efforts to ensure that the IAEA continues to carry out its mission and its activities relating to the verification and monitoring of Iran’s international obligations and commitments. In keeping with his joint statement together with his British and German counterparts on February 23, the minister again expressed his deep concern following the decision by Iran to suspend implementation of the Additional Protocol on February 23, as well as other transparency measures contained in the JCPOA.

Lastly, the minister spoke to the director general about the diplomatic efforts by France and its partners to find a negotiated solution that would allow the United States and Iran to return to compliance with their nuclear-related commitments under the JCPOA, including with respect to the IAEA’s verification and monitoring of Iranian activities.
