Germany – Conversation between the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs and his counterpart (31 Mar. 2022)
The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs spoke to his German counterpart, Ms Annalena Baerbock.
The two ministers talked about the situation of the war in Ukraine and the Europeans’ strong unity in managing its consequences. They talked about preparations for the meetings of NATO and EU foreign ministers on 6 and 7 April and 11 April respectively. The Minister highlighted the importance of even stronger European coordination on managing refugee flows and the need for increasing economic pressure on Russia while the Russian military aggression in Ukraine continues. The two ministers agreed to continue very close coordination on support for Ukraine, particularly as regards its humanitarian aspect in the tragic situation we are seeing in Mariupol.
Together the two ministers prepared the Berlin meeting in support of Moldova on 5 April, co-chaired by our two countries, with Romania. They supported increased international assistance to that country, which is suffering the consequences of the war in Ukraine.
