Georgia - First session of the Dimitri Amilakhvari Dialogue (Paris, 02 December 2019)
Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, opened the first session of the Dimitri Amilakhvari Dialogue today in Paris together with his Georgian counterpart, David Zalkaliani.
This dialogue, which was officially launched by President Macron and his Georgian counterpart, Salomé Zourabichvili, pays tribute to the hero of the Free French Forces of Georgian origin, Dimitri Amilakhvari, who died during the battle of El Alamein in October 1942. It is aimed at strengthening cooperation between France and Georgia in the political, defense and security, economic and trade, as well as cultural and education spheres.
Jean-Yves le Drian visited Tbilisi on March 26, 2018, to take part in the ceremony to mark the 100th anniversary of the independence of Georgia.
