Launch of the France-Egypt Cultural Year (10 January 2019)
On 8 January at Cairo Opera House, France and Egypt launched the France-Egypt Cultural Year, which will celebrate the historical and cultural links between the two countries on the 150th anniversary of the inauguration of the Suez Canal.

This France-Egypt Cultural Year 2019 is an opportunity to promote France and Egypt’s cultural heritage, promote intercultural dialogue, enhance exchanges between France and Egypt’s cultural scenes and showcase young talent from both countries.
Joint artistic projects will be particularly in the spotlight, like the opening show, a unique choreographic creation which brought together dancers from the Paris and Cairo Operas at Cairo Opera House.
The Cultural Year, coordinated by the Institut Français in Cairo, Egypt and the Egyptian Cultural Centre in Paris, will be carried out with the collaboration and support of numerous partners, both public and private, in France and Egypt.
