Dominican Republic - Franck Riester’s visit (Dec. 9 - 10, 2021)

Franck Riester, Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will be in the Dominican Republic for the final stage of his Latin American tour on December 9 and 10.

He will meet with Lisandro Macarrulla, Minister of the Presidency, as well as Víctor Bisonó, Minister of Industry, Trade and SMEs; Monika Infante, head of the French-Dominican Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and Carolina Mejía, Mayor of Santo Domingo.

Mr. Riester will sign a letter of intent aimed at strengthening our cooperation on urban transportation. He will visit Santo Domingo’s Metro and cable car, both built by French companies. A roadmap on cooperation between the French Development Agency and the Dominican Republic will be signed, along with a loan agreement to improve Line 1 of the Santo Domingo Metro.

Mr. Riester will be accompanied by a delegation of French company representatives with the aim of strengthening economic ties between France and the Dominican Republic and promoting French expertise in the areas of transportation, urban mobility and green transition infrastructures.

The Minister will attend the Week of France, a major event for the French and Dominican business communities. On that occasion he will inaugurate the new French Embassy in Santo Domingo and will meet with the French community.
