Following initial statements by the new American special envoy to Greenland, France emphasizes that national sovereignty and the inviolability of borders are fundamental principles of international law. France therefore reaffirms its respect for the Kingdom of Denmark’s territorial integrity.

In line with President Macron’s visit to Nuuk this past June, and the visit by Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot this past August, France reiterates its full support for the Danish and Greenlandic authorities and the Greenlandic people.

France also remains fully committed to the implementation of the Strategic Partnership Agreement signed with Denmark in April 2025, which is based on our ties of friendship, our vibrant economic and cultural relationship, and our shared values, among them respect for the law. France also wishes to accelerate the implementation of the Strategic Partnership Agreement between the European Union and Greenland signed in 2023.
