Belarus – Prisoner release (September 12, 2025)

France welcomes the release of 52 prisoners in Belarus, including a French national and several political prisoners, thanks to U.S. mediation.

France once again calls for an end to political arrests, prosecutions and imprisonments, and for the respect of all Belarusians’ fundamental rights, including those of political prisoners, in line with Belarus’s international commitments.

It urges the Belarusian authorities to initiate a genuine dialogue with all segments of society.
