Armenia – Conversation between the Minister and his counterpart, Ararat Mirzoyan (October 23, 2025)
Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot spoke on October 23 with his Armenian counterpart, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan, on the sidelines of the Fourth Ministerial Conference on Feminist Foreign Policies that was held by France on October 22 and 23, 2025.
The Ministers discussed the development of foundational bilateral cooperation projects in many areas, in light of the upcoming conclusion of a strategic partnership agreement and the continued strengthening of EU-Armenian relations.
The Minister noted France’s firm commitment to Armenia’s sovereignty and democratic resilience.
The Minister reaffirmed France’s full support for the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and for the momentum generated by the August 8th Washington Summit. The development of regional connectivity and the reopening of borders, in accordance with territorial integrity and national sovereignty, will allow the South Caucasus to become a place of peace and prosperity for the region’s populations. The Minister applauded the recent steps taken in this direction, including the announcement that Azerbaijan would be lifting restrictions on cargo transit to Armenia.
