Andorra – Meeting between Clément Beaune and Landry Riba (8 Feb. 2022)

Today, Clément Beaune, Minister of State for European Affairs, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, welcomed Landry Riba, Secretary of State for European Affairs of the Principality of Andorra.

They discussed the ongoing negotiations on the association agreement between the European Union and the Principality of Andorra. Since March 2015, the European Union has been conducting negotiations with Andorra, Monaco and San Marino, with the aim of reaching an association agreement that would govern those three countries’ access to the internal market.

The minister expressed his wish to see discussions between the European Commission and these three countries resume soon in order to leverage the French presidency of the Council of the European Union to obtain concrete results, in particular regarding the most political issues under negotiation. He also reiterated France’s support and commitment to supporting these negotiations.
