Albania – Meeting between Clément Beaune and the Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs (Paris, Nov. 12, 2021)

Clément Beaune, Minister of State for European Affairs, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, hosted Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Olta Xhaçka today.

The minister reaffirmed France’s full support for Albania’s European prospects and lauded the progress made to meet the conditions set by the Council for the first intergovernmental conference between Albania and the EU member states. He encouraged Albania to continue on the path of necessary reforms, especially with regard to the rule of law, which is at the heart of the European project.

Mr. Beaune and Ms. Xhaçka discussed Albania’s role in strengthening regional cooperation in the Western Balkans as well as our upcoming cooperation within the UN Security Council as Albania prepares to serve its first term as a non-permanent member.

The Minister underscored the high caliber of relations between France and Albania and prospects for expanding our cooperation, especially on economic and social development, with support from the French Development Agency, and on several investment projects.
