Yemen – Houthi attack on the United Nations (October 20, 2025)

France condemns in the strongest possible terms the Houthi detention of UN employees in Sanaa, which marks the latest intolerable escalation against humanitarian workers in Yemen. By once again targeting the UN, which carries out essential efforts to help civilian populations, the Houthis are demonstrating their cynicism.

France demands the immediate and unconditional release of all the employees of the United Nations, nongovernmental organizations and diplomatic missions who are being held by the Houthis. These arbitrary detentions constitute a violation of international law. They hinder the distribution of the humanitarian aid to civilian populations, and thus exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in Yemen.

France offers its heartfelt solidarity to the United Nations.
