Ukraine – Condemnation of massive Russian airstrikes targeting Ukrainian cities (31 July 2025)
France condemns in the strongest possible terms the massive airstrikes against Ukrainian cities that once again targeted civilian infrastructure and resulted in numerous casualties. According to preliminary reports, last night’s Russian airstrikes in Kyiv left 7 dead and 44 injured.
These attacks reflect a deliberate strategy of military escalation and are intended to sow fear among the Ukrainian population. They are taking place regardless of the ultimatum that President Trump gave Russia on July 14 to compel it to engage in good-faith negotiations. Since then, Russia has struck Ukrainian territory more than 3,100 times, killing more than 50 civilians and injuring between 180 and 200. As has been the case since the beginning of its invasion, Russia maintains a mindset of confrontation and rejects any serious commitment to peace.
France will remain staunchly committed to Ukraine in order to obtain a just and lasting peace.
