Resumption of diplomatic relations between the member states of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (Jan 6, 2021)

France warmly welcomes the statement of solidarity adopted at the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit on January 5 in Al Ula, in Saudi Arabia, and welcomes the rapprochement initiated between the members of the GCC. The opening of borders announced on January 4 represents an important positive step in this reconciliation process. France especially welcomes the mediation efforts of Kuwait, the role of the United States and the efforts of all of the countries that helped secure this outcome.

The stability, security and economic development of the region calls for close cooperation between the members of the GCC. France is attached to the strong relations it maintains with all of its Gulf partners.
