International justice – Rwanda – Trial of Félicien Kabuga- Q&A (September 30, 2022)

Q: What is France’s reaction to the opening of Félicien Kabuga’s trial?

A: We welcome the opening of this trial, which proves that justice is moving forward for leading Rwandan figures suspected of taking part in the genocide against the Tutsi in 1994. This is an important moment for the victims and survivors and for international criminal justice.

France is resolutely committed to the fight against impunity for those suspected of genocide, as illustrated by our arrest of Félicien Kabuga in 2020 and his transfer to the international court.

France fully supports the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT) in The Hague.
