Clément Beaune, Minister of State for European Affairs, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will present the Louise Weiss Prize for European Journalism today at the Quai d’Orsay.

This prize was created in 2005 by the French section of the Association of European Journalists with the active support of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and is aimed at encouraging journalists to provide more in-depth and more instructional coverage of European issues. It pays tribute to Louise Weiss (1893-1983), a committed journalist and European, who worked on pioneering projects to promote peace, French-German rapprochement and European unity.
This year’s winners are as follows:

  • For Reporting: Bryan Carter “Au cœur de la guerre secrète des camions en Europe” (Euronews).
  • For Analysis: Sonia Delesalle-Stolper for “31 janvier 2020, le jour du rembarquement” (Libération).
  • For Young Journalist, sponsored by the Hippocrène Foundation: Marion Gauthier for “La Pologne secouée par la restriction du droit à l’avortement” (Europe 1).
  • Special Jury Award: the Centre Universitaire d’Enseignement du Journalisme (CUEJ), for online media “État critique. L’économie européenne en réanimation”
