United Nations – New members of the Security Council (2 January 2023)


France congratulates Ecuador, Japan, Malta, Mozambique and Switzerland on joining the United Nations Security Council on 1 January 2023 for a two-year term.

France looks forward to working closer with each of these partners on all issues addressed in this forum which, pursuant to the Charter of the United Nations, holds the main responsibility for international peace and security.

France avails itself of this opportunity to commend the excellent work by India, Ireland, Kenya, Mexico and Norway as Security Council members for the 2021-2022 period.
