Feminist foreign policy – 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (September 15, 2025)
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action by 189 countries on September 15, 1995, France reaffirms its unwavering commitment to women’s rights and gender equality.
Through its feminist foreign policy, France is working to promote the rights and roles of women and girls in political life and in the areas of peace, security, health, education and the fight against poverty.
As the leading donor to civil society organizations, France has supported more than 1,400 organizations in 75 countries since 2020 through the Support Fund for Feminist Organizations (FSOF). France is working with UN Women and the United Nations Population Fund to boost the economic autonomy of Ukrainian women in digital technologies, lend its support to Afghan women and refugees, and support projects and programs worldwide that promote the protection and rights of women and the vital role they play in conflict resolution and development.
A protective legal framework is essential. France extends the highest legal protections to women’s right to control their own bodies. It encourages all nations to take measures that effectively ensure this protection, in law and in actual fact.
The Fourth Ministerial Conference on Feminist Foreign Policy, to be held in Paris on October 22 and 23, will be an additional step toward mobilizing the international community in support of women’s and girls’ equality and rights worldwide.
