Simone Veil Prize of the French Republic

The Simone Veil Prize of the French Republic for promotion of gender equality is awarded every year to a person or group working for the rights and status of women or for gender equality in the world, without consideration of nationality. The 2022 Simone Veil Prize was awarded to Komal Narayan, a Fijian rights defender specialized in the links between climate change, ethics, feminism and politics. The winner was chosen by a jury chaired by Deputy Marie-Pierre Rixain, President of the Delegation for Women’s Rights and Equal Opportunities for Men and Women at the French National Assembly.

27 European Women

Jean-Yves Le Drian, alongside Clément Beaune, Minister of State for European Affairs, and Élisabeth Moreno, Minister Delegate for Gender Equality, Diversity and Equal Opportunities, will highlight examples of Feminist Europe, presenting the stories and engagement of women from the Member States. These portraits were produced for the “27 European Women” project and will be available from 8 March on the website of the Ouest France newspaper.
